Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP)

UYEGP helps educated unemployed youth start businesses with low-cost loans.

Objective
To create employment opportunities for unemployed youth, particularly from marginalised segments of society, by promoting self-employment ventures.
Key Benefits
  • Ventures can be initiated with project costs up to Rs.15 lakhs for manufacturing and Rs.5 lakhs for services, facilitated through subsidy-linked credit loans.
  • The government provides a subsidy of 25% of the project cost (up to Rs.2.5 lakhs), easing the financial burden.
  • Beneficiaries contribute 10% to the General Category and 5% to the Special Category. (SC/ST/MBC/BC/Minoriities/ Ex-Servicepersons/ Differentially abled/ Transgender).
  • Focuses on empowering marginalised sections with self-employment opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria
  • The applicant should be minimum 18 years of age.
    • For General category: maximum 35 years of age.
    • For Special category (SC/ ST/ MBC/ BC/ Minorities/Ex-Servicemen/ Differently-abled/ Transgender): maximum 45 years of age.
  • The applicant should have passed 8th standard.
    • The upper age limit is 35 years for the General Category and 45 years for the Special Category (SC/ ST/ MBC/ BC/ Transgenders).
